Information Technology effective way to bring transparency: Governor
Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Wednesday said information technology was the most effective way to bring transparency, implement good governance and curb corruption.
The Haryana Governor visited Lok Nayak Jai Prakash District Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra, distributed fruits among patients and interacted with them, on the occasion of Good Governance Day event to mark the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Governor interacted with the doctors and staff and inquired about the health of the patients admitted to the hospital.
The Haryana Governor said, “Walking on the path of good governance in this state, the government tried to create a public friendly system by changing the old system and has also got success. The state government is organising programmes in every district on Good Governance Day to reinforce the principles of governance. Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee dedicated his entire life to the society and while being the Prime Minister, he worked for the progress of the country by taking everyone along. The young generation should draw inspiration from Vajpayee’s exemplary life.”
Following the path shown by Atal Vajpayee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has implemented welfare-oriented policies aimed at eradicating poverty and ensuring holistic development. These initiatives have been coupled with governance reforms and the introduction of Digital India to make such schemes accessible to every citizen, Governor Dattatreya said.
Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh, Superintendent of Police Varun Singla, SDM Kapil Sharma, Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhbir Singh and other officials and doctors were present on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, while attending a religious event at Punjabi Dharmashala, Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya stressed that the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita conveyed unity among all beings, selflessness, and dedication to the welfare of others, along with adherence to one’s duties.
He highlighted that the Gita provided a pathway to equality and peace, values that humanity needed to embrace today.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the Sampoorna Srimad Bhagavad Gita Parayana Yajana. NRI devotees from nearly 50 countries had gathered to collectively chant all 700 shlokas of the Bhagavad Gita.
The Governor said the International Gita Mahotsav was recently celebrated on this holy land. During the festival, global recitations of Gita shlokas were conducted, spreading the message of peace worldwide. The teachings of Gita imparted by Lord Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra, underline the values of selfless service, duty, and compassion, serving as a beacon for humanity.
“Gita doesn’t belong to any one community. The Gita’s message is for the whole world. Ultimately, the Gita serves as a timeless guide to nurturing a life of service, empathy, and spiritual fulfillment in the collective welfare of humanity. More such events should be organised for the welfare of society,” he added.
